Island Gully Hut

Island Gully Hut is a Department of Conservation standard 4-bunk backcountry hut in Molesworth Recreation Reserve (Marlborough region). Use is first come, first served with no bookings required.

Getting there from the north is via Rainbow Road, a toll road with access restrictions; there are no restrictions on roads from the south. The hut has a pit latrine and a fireplace, and it’s set up with mattresses but no drinking water provided—so plan to bring your own water and suitable gear. Fees apply: buy a Standard Hut Ticket for each night and place it in the honesty box at the hut, or use a Backcountry Hut Pass that covers most Standard and Serviced huts for 12 months.
