Islands Hut

Islands Hut is a basic four-bunk backcountry hut in Eyre Mountains/Taka Rā Haka Conservation Park (Southland), run by the Department of Conservation. It’s set up for free, first-come-first-served stays with bookings not required.

The hut includes four bunks and has a fireplace; there are toilets with pit latrine disposal. DOC lists the hut as having no drinking water provided, so plan to bring enough for your stay.
