Juneau Lake Cabin
Juneau Lake Cabin is a remote Chugach National Forest backcountry cabin on the eastern shore of Juneau Lake, accessed from the Resurrection Pass Trail corridor. It’s a log cabin with bunk space for six and a maximum occupancy of eight, with a wood stove for heat, an outhouse outside, counter space, and basic cutting tools (a splitting maul and a saw).
The cabin is non-electric and does not have potable water, mattresses/bedding, or cooking utensils or cut firewood. Bring sleeping bags and pads, a cook stove and cooking gear, and treat/boil water taken from the lake. A canoe with paddles is provided for Juneau Lake boating and fishing access, and fishing/hunting requires the applicable permits. The cabin is reserved through Recreation.gov (USD 75 per night), and reservations can be made up to 180 days in advance; check-in/out is at 12 p.m., and the cabin is available for reservations year-round.
Access is by hiking, biking, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, floatplane, and snowmobiles during open seasons. From the Resurrection Pass South Trailhead at milepost 53.2 on Sterling Highway, hike 9.5 miles; from the Resurrection Pass North Trailhead at milepost 4 on Resurrection Creek Road, hike about 29.3 miles. The trail is closed to pack/saddle stock from April 1 to June 30, and winter motorized use varies by year (December rules alternate), so plan around the current seasonal access restrictions.
