Kah Sheets Bay Cabin-
Kah Sheets Bay Cabin- is a USFS wilderness backcountry cabin on the south end of Kupreanof Island at the mouth of Kah Sheets Creek. It’s set up for primitive, overnight use with four single wooden bunks, a table with benches, and a covered porch with skylights; sanitation is provided via a pit-type outhouse.
Inside, the cabin has both an oil heater (oil type specified for the stove) and a wood stove, plus an axe/maul. Firewood for the wood stove is not guaranteed, and potable water isn’t available at the site—plan to bring your water and a way to heat/cook.
The cabin sleeps up to 4 people and is reserved through Recreation.gov. Peak-season pricing is $40 per night (May 1–September 30) and non-peak pricing is $25 per night (October 1–April 30). Access is by boat or floatplane; boat access requires enough tide to navigate in front of the cabin because of gravel bars at the creek mouth, and it can also be reached by hiking a 2.75-mile boardwalk trail from Kah Sheets Lake (floatplane access only).
For trip planning: pack out all trash, bring bedding/sleeping pads or sleeping bags and cooking gear/fuel, and bring essentials like a first-aid kit—stove oil, bedding, and cooking utensils are not provided.
