Ladybird Boulders

Ladybird Boulders, also known as Ladybird Creek Boulders, is a bouldering area off Pass Creek Road in British Columbia’s Slocan Valley. The site lies within the Norns/Ladybird zone, with Ladybird reached at approximately 5.6 km along the forest service road.

The area occupies forested rock slides with granite-like gneiss and stand-alone boulders generally around 10 feet high, ranging from roughly 5 to 30 feet. Shaded sections and cool caves make it a useful summer venue, while the surrounding larch forest is especially attractive in autumn.

Development began with cleaning and first lines by Scott Jeffery, David Bristow, and Marcus Norman, followed by substantial expansion. A 2016 mini-guide recorded 64 problems; the Ladybird Boulders subarea is now identified with more than 80 problems, including the Serengeti sector and its steep V8 standout, “Speeding Up on Zebras.”

Ladybird Creek became a BC Recreation Site in 2021. Facilities include three forested walk-in campsites, an outhouse, a kiosk, and signage covering more than 100 problems through the Ladybird Creek valley.
