Lake Nicholls Hut

Lake Nicholls Hut is a timber backcountry shelter in Tasmania’s Mount Field National Park, used as a simple stop for walkers heading to and from Lake Nicholls. Access to the hut is by hike from the Mount Field area—one commonly used approach is a 2.5 to 3 hour walk from the Lake Dobson Road carpark area via the Lake Nicholls track.

Use is free and there’s no booking system; the hut operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Plan to be self-sufficient: bring a warm sleeping bag and your own cooking gear for the night.
