Langtang Valley Trek

Langtang Valley Trek in Nepal climbs from Syabru Besi up into the Langtang Valley, reaching Kyanjin Gompa at about 3,870m. The route is commonly used as an out-and-back, with Kyanjin Gompa functioning as the main high point for staying and doing day trips.

The trek is a multi-day hike of about 60.73 km, with route planning often around 65 km.

A typical progression goes upward through mid-valley settlements and lodging stops: after Syabru Besi, the route climbs to Lama Hotel (around 2,500m), then continues toward Langtang Village (around 3,430m) before reaching Kyanjin Gompa.

At the top end, trekkers commonly use Kyanjin Gompa as a base for an acclimatization hike toward Tserko Ri (about 5,000m) and for additional exploration around the monastery and nearby community sites.

Altitude is the main limiting factor on this trek: it rises from the low starting elevations to peaks around 5,000m, with the need for pacing and acclimatization as the air thins and temperatures swing.

Langtang Valley Trek runs within Langtang National Park, Nepal’s Himalayan national park established in 1976. The park includes the Langtang valley and sits across multiple districts in the central Himalaya region, with the trek used to access that landscape on foot.
