Laverty Falls Trail
Laverty Falls Trail is a 5 km return hike in Fundy National Park, New Brunswick, built around a steady descent to Laverty Falls. Expect a mixed hardwood forest (maple, birch, and beech) that transitions toward spruce as you near the river corridor and falls area.
The attraction is the waterfall itself: Laverty falls is described as a 12 m (39 ft) curtain falls with water tumbling over a sheer rock face. The trail brings you to viewpoints at the top of the falls and also allows access to a deep pool under the curtain section for wading or swimming.
Directionally it works as a “go down, come back” day hike: the fast track is returning the same way along Laverty Falls Trail, keeping your effort consistent with the downhill approach to the falls.
For a longer day, you can loop back via the Moosehorn trail through the Upper Salmon river valley. That extension is presented as the standard longer option connected at/near the falls area.
The trail is rated moderate and includes steep sections; plan for a mix of exposed roots and rocks, plus damp ground near the river. Yellow trail markers are used, and the path is described as traversing forest and river-adjacent terrain before emerging near the rock outcrop at the falls.
Pack for variable, cool conditions typical of Fundy’s wilderness and bring traction-capable footwear. The park guidance emphasizes staying on marked trails and leaving no trace in the forest-and-river habitat around the falls.
