Lechweg
Lechweg is a cross-border long-distance hiking trail that follows the Lech River from the alpine headwaters near Formarinsee in Vorarlberg, Austria, toward Lechfall near Füssen in Bavaria, Germany.
The full route is about 125 km (78 miles) and is typically planned as a multi-day hike (about 6 to 10 days depending on pace).
On-trail character is tied closely to the river corridor: stages run through the Tyrol Lechtal landscape before continuing into Allgäu, with the route passing notable natural and cultural highlights along the way.
A widely offered itinerary style breaks the hike into multi-day stages from Lech am Arlberg through towns and valleys in Tyrol, ending at Füssen and the Lechfall.
The route is generally pitched as easy to moderate for long-distance walking, with a “Leading Quality Trail” certification from the European Ramblers Association because it’s not dominated by punishing alpine or technical climbs.
Seasonal planning matters: the route is commonly timed for summer into early autumn, with best hiking window given as June to October (often framed more tightly as mid-June through early October).
