Leithen Hut

Leithen Hut is a private backcountry hut in Leithen Bush Scenic Reserve (Otago, New Zealand), maintained by the Blue Mountains branch of the New Zealand Deerstalkers Association. It’s set up for group overnight use by arrangement with the NZDA, and is located at about 796 m elevation.

The hut has 10 bunks. It includes heating, mattresses, toilets, and water collected from the roof into a tank; an open fire has been replaced with a wood burner. Public use is by arranging with the NZDA rather than through the main public Department of Conservation hut booking system.
