Little Miami Scenic Trail
Little Miami Scenic Trail is a long rail-trail hiking route in southwestern Ohio built along the Little Miami River corridor. It runs about 78 miles end-to-end and is managed through a partnership that includes the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and local organizations.
Use it for long walks and steady-distance training on a fully paved corridor. The surface is asphalt/concrete, and the route grades are described as flat to a slight downward trend overall.
The main through-route is from Springfield to Newtown, running across Clark, Clermont, Greene, Hamilton, and Warren counties, with trail-access points throughout the corridor in multiple towns.
For a typical long-distance day, think in “out-and-back or town-to-town” terms: the trail passes through developed small-town centers such as Yellow Springs and Xenia, then continues through additional river towns like Loveland, Milford, and Terrace Park.
In the broader trail network, it serves as a backbone connection within Ohio’s paved trail systems and ties into longer routes including the Ohio-to-Erie Trail and US Bike Route 21; it also connects directly to other major regional trails (including the Ohio River Trail and Countryside YMCA Trail).
Multiuse by design: the corridor supports walking and running, with other permitted uses including cycling, inline skating, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, and wheelchair access along the paved route.
