Lower Paradise Lake Cabin

Lower Paradise Lake Cabin is a remote Chugach National Forest wilderness cabin on the north shore of Lower Paradise Lake in the Paradise Valley, with floatplane access only. The log cabin is about 12 x 14 feet, sleeps 6 on bunks (maximum occupancy 8), and is equipped with a wood stove plus a table/counter space and basic camp tools like a splitting maul and crosscut saw; an outhouse is provided.

Expect to be self-sufficient: there’s no running water, electricity, mattresses or bedding, cooking utensils, or cut firewood. Bring your own drinking water plan (lake water must be treated/boiled), plus bedding/sleeping pads, cooking gear, food, and firewood; all food and garbage must be packed out.

The cabin includes a rowboat with oars for fishing, and the area supports hunting during designated seasons and wildlife viewing. A stay costs $60/night (plus a non-refundable service fee added through the booking portal), and reservations are handled on Recreation.gov on a first-come, first-served basis up to six months in advance.

Access is by floatplane (about 15 minutes from Moose Pass or 20 minutes from Seward). In fall, winter, and early spring, the cabin may be inaccessible when the lake is frozen and floatplanes can’t land; during these periods, contact the Seward Ranger District before booking. Check-in/check-out is 12pm, and the office contact is (907) 288-3178 (Mon–Fri, 8:00am–4:00pm AST, closed 12:00–1:00pm).
