Maiden Peak Shelter

Maiden Peak Shelter is a fully enclosed, octagonal log cabin wilderness hut used as a winter backcountry destination near Willamette Pass. It’s maintained by volunteers and staffed for winter recreation by the Willamette Backcountry Ski Patrol in the wider Willamette Pass shelter network. It sleeps up to 15 people overnight.

Use is free and there are no reservations—overnight stays are first-come, first-served and you should be ready to share if another group arrives. The cabin is open for overnight stays from November 15 to April 30, with a maximum stay limit of 3 nights.

Inside, you’ll find a large sleeping loft, wooden floor, several benches, three tables, and a solar lighting system plus a large woodstove with rock hearth. There’s no running water, no restroom facility at the cabin, and candles are not allowed; bring your own lights and plan to pack out all garbage and human waste if no restroom is available nearby. Firewood, when provided, is for the woodstove only.

A common access approach is a roughly 4-mile backcountry ski or snowshoe heading north on the Pacific Crest Trail from the Willamette Pass Sno-Park area.
