Martins Creek Hunters Hut

Martins Creek Hunters Hut is a basic four-bunk hut for hunters in the Stewart Island/Rakiura area, within Rakiura National Park. It’s owned and maintained by the Rakiura Hunter Camp Trust and is available for public use, but it’s intended for accommodation tied to booked hunting blocks.

The hut has multi-fuel burners, rainwater storage (a 1000 litre tank) and mattresses, plus a toilet with pit latrine disposal. Water is untreated and needs boiling before use (high rat numbers increase the risk of tank-water contamination). Bookings are essential through the Rakiura National Park Visitor Centre; the fee is $30 per person for the length of stay, capped at 10 days.
