Mont Ernest-Laforce Trail

The Mont Ernest-Laforce Trail is a short, intermediate loop in Parc national de la Gaspesie. Expect about 4.67 km of hiking and roughly 155–186 m of elevation gain, with a typical completion time around 1.5–2 hours.

Start from the Mont-Ernest-Laforce parking lot on Route 16, in the Monts-McGerrigle sector. The trail is laid out as a loop, returning you to your starting area.

The route climbs to an observation point where you get broad sightlines over the Gaspésie National Park highlands and the nearby Chic-Choc mountains. On a clear day, the top offers an all-around view and is specifically noted for seeing Mont Albert and Mont Olivine.

Moose are a big draw on this hike. The trail passes through habitat where moose are frequently encountered, so keep an eye on the ground cover and along the path edges as you move.

This is a day hike; plan your timing around the season. The commonly recommended window runs from early May through November.

For visitors planning with pets: dogs and pets are strictly prohibited on this trail.
