Mount Madja’as Trail is a long-distance expert hike on Panay Island that targets Mount Madjaas (highest peak on Panay), starting from Brgy. Flores in Culasi, Antique and running up to the summit and back as a multi-day trek.

Expect a 3–4 day itinerary and a long, demanding climb profile: total hiking time is about 14 hours, with a reported one-way trek length around 23.3 km and about 2,501 m of elevation gain to the summit.

The usual approach begins with mandatory registration at the local Culasi municipal hall/police station area, then you ride by motorcycle to the Brgy. Flores trailhead and start the hike through farmlands before the trail locks into denser forest.

Day 2 is the crux: a steep ascent out of a river valley and the crossing of the Opao knife-edge ridge, described as exposed with strong winds—then continuing on to mossy forest and upper camps.

The ridge zone is also known for distinctive ground and plant conditions—knife-edge “Opao” is called out for its lack of surrounding trees and for limited grip, and the broader route is associated with leech-laden, damp trail conditions.

Day 3 is a final summit push and then a careful descent back down to the Flores route (the summit is commonly hiked for its elevated perspective when visibility allows).

Route logistics skew toward guided, paperwork-heavy access: advance registration is described as mandatory, and local guides are strictly required for the climb.

Terrain-specific preparation matters on this route: plan for steep, slippery sections during ascent and for prolonged time on muddy and rooty ground during summit-day travel; damp conditions increase the likelihood of leeches, so full coverage clothing is a practical necessity.
