Mount Napulauan Traverse Trail

Mount Napulauan Traverse Trail is a long-distance hike in Hungduan, Ifugao (Cordillera). The route elevation tops out at 2,642 MASL and is commonly done as an overnight trek (about 1 to 2 days).

The traverse is steep and sustained from the start, with a major uphill push before reaching the summit zone. Expect forest running from high canopies into mossy terrain as you climb toward the 2,642 MASL summit area.

Up here, the trail finishes at a small open summit area with space for tents pitched around bonsai-like trees. From the summit area, hikers look out over surrounding Cordillera high peaks when weather clears.

Most of the route character is tied to thick mossy forest, where visibility and footing can change quickly under dense growth and soft moss. Multiple accounts flag limatik (blood leeches) as a real issue in the mossy parts of the climb.

Camp planning centers on an overnight stop before the summit day, since the climb is typically timed across two days. Commonly referenced pacing puts the summit day roughly 6 to 9 hours from the start of the summit push.

There are standard jump-off points in Hungduan used for traverse variations—Poblacion and Barangay Hapao—reflecting that the “traverse” can be run as different long directional legs while still targeting Mt. Napulauan’s summit area.
