Mount Pleasant - Romer Mountain Trail

Mount Pleasant - Romer Mountain Trail is a point-to-point Catskills hike near Phoenicia, New York, routed through the Slide Mountain Wilderness. Expect a mostly undulating track with rolling elevation changes, moving along the upper edges of Cross Mountain Hollow and passing just below the summit of Mount Pleasant before continuing on toward Romer Mountain.

Use it as a ridge-to-summit connection in the Slide Mountain trail network: the route functions as a gateway for longer Long Path-style trips and links into the Burroughs Range trail system.

A typical planning target for this itinerary is about 8.1–9 miles one-way. The elevation gain varies by the exact start/end you choose, with estimates ranging from roughly 1,046 feet up to 2,000+ feet.

The mapped corridor crosses high ground rather than staying in the valley, so you’ll get repeated ups and downs rather than a single sustained climb. Terrain is described as having several ascents/descents, with some scrambling near ridges in places.

If you’re coming from the north end of the route, the northern terminus is associated with Lane Street in Phoenicia. The other end is associated with the Burroughs Range Trail junction in the Slide Mountain area.

Because it isn’t a loop, plan on a two-car shuttle or pre-arranged transport between trailheads before you start.
