Mt. Carlyle Backcountry Lodge

Mt. Carlyle Backcountry Lodge is a backcountry alpine hut in the Kootenays (Kokanee Mountain Range / Selkirk Mountains). The lodge accommodates up to 12 backcountry enthusiasts and is centered on lodge-based winter skiing and other guided/backcountry trips, with a base elevation given as 7,200 feet.
Inside, the lodge is set up for group stays with a large kitchen and dining area, separate sleeping annex with 4 bunk rooms, an in-house washroom with a night toilet, and hot water on demand. Power is provided via solar and generator; cooking uses propane; heating includes a wood heater in the relaxation/recovery room and additional propane heating for drying gear. There is a separate wood-fired sauna/shower house and a sun deck with an outdoor bar-b-que.
Access is described as a 3.5-hour hike in summer, while in winter access is by helicopter from Kaslo Airport (about a 1-hour drive north of Nelson). Use requires reservations (the lodge notes “reservation required” on the listing).
