Mt Steele Cabin is a backcountry wilderness hut in Tetrahedron Provincial Park, run by the Tetrahedron Outdoor Club near the south end of Sunshine Coast. It’s intended for overnight use by people approaching Mount Steele from the Tetrahedron park trail system rather than for day-use camping.

Capacity is limited: the hut is set up to accommodate 12 people and includes a wood stove with firewood, a sleeping loft with mattress pads, and basic washing and waste facilities (sinks for dishwashing with greywater buckets and an outhouse).

It’s not reservable. Cabins operate on first-come, first-served use and are typically very busy on weekends and holidays in winter, with fewer overnights during summer (except for maintenance closures).

There is a cabin fee for overnight stays. Use is supported by a per-person rate that helps cover firewood and maintenance; payment is handled through fee envelopes provided on-site or at a nearby pay location in Sechelt.

You need to bring your own sleeping gear, food and cooking equipment (stove, dishes, and cutlery), toilet paper, and fire starters (matches/lighter or similar). Drinking water must be treated; water can be collected from nearby creeks or lakes for much of the year, but in dry recent summers the supply may be limited and additional melting/boiling may be needed in winter.

The Tetrahedron park rules restrict camping and also limit impacts like pets, biking, and motorized vehicles within the park, which affects how you plan your access and overnight logistics. The approach is via the Gray Creek FSR to the lower or (in summer) upper parking lots, with the upper road being rough and requiring 4WD/AWD and good clearance.
