Old Currango Homestead

Old Currango Homestead (also known as Currangorambla) is a historic backcountry cabin used as a wilderness hut in Kosciuszko National Park. The main building was built in 1873 by Tom O’Rourke, with later additions including the kitchen, bedroom, and fireplace in the 1880s and a store room added in 1900.

The homestead sits just below the tree line at the NW end of Currangorambla Plain, with views across the plains toward the Brindabella Ranges. It’s accessible via the Mosquito Creek Firetrail, or by walking from Currango Homestead or the Port Phillip Firetrail; when approaching from the Port Phillip Firetrail, stay on the main trail because short cuts can be very wet.
