Pigot Bay Cabin
Pigot Bay Cabin is a remote backcountry cabin in Prince William Sound, operated by the U.S. Forest Service within the Chugach National Forest. The 16 x 16-foot A-frame has a main floor and loft, sleeps up to 6 people, and includes wooden bunks, a table with benches, an oil drip (kerosene) stove, and a fire extinguisher; water and electricity are not available.
Plan on self-sufficiency: you must bring your own drinking water and all cooking and bedding gear, plus kerosene fuel for the stove. A composting toilet is provided, and you’ll need to add a small amount of peat after use and burn toilet paper. The cabin is reached by boat or floatplane (it is not road-accessible), and a staircase from the beach is part of the approach.
Reservations are required and can be made up to 180 days in advance through Recreation.gov. The rate is $75 per night, with a non-refundable service fee added to each reservation by Recreation.gov. The facility is open year-round, and guests are asked to pack out trash and follow local safety guidance in an extremely remote area.
