Pretty Valley Hut
Pretty Valley Hut is a historic bushwalking shelter in Victoria’s Alpine National Park, intended for free, first-come use. It’s set up for day use and as an emergency refuge rather than a bookable accommodation option.
The hut is very basic: it has a potbelly stove for heating, and it does not provide running water or electricity. Nearby are non-flush pit toilets, firepits, picnic tables, and horse yards.
Use is strictly self-sufficient. Campfires are only permitted in the designated firepits (or by using a portable stove), and firewood must not be gathered from within the national park.
Access changes with the season: in the non-snow period it can be reached via 4WD using dirt/gravel roads near the Falls Creek resort; in winter, general vehicles can’t reach it and access is by cross-country skiing or snowshoeing.
