Quartz Creek Trail
Quartz Creek Trail (No. 1050) is a moderate long-distance hike in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, in the Skykomish Ranger District area. It connects with the Bald Eagle Mountain Trail at Curry Gap near the Darrington Ranger District boundary.
The route starts by paralleling Quartz Creek, then gradually climbs through dense timber. After a couple miles, it leaves the creek and works its way up to Curry Gap.
Expect a steady rhythm of switchbacks as the trail gains elevation toward the ridgetop and small open meadows. Mid-route, the trail stays tied to creek-side terrain and includes creek-crossings and rocky drops.
The trail crosses into a sliver of Wild Sky Wilderness and continues into Henry M. Jackson Wilderness. In just over four miles it reaches Curry Gap, where it intersects Bald Eagle Mountain Trail 650.
Canyon-floor features include creek crossings and boulder drops along a rock slide that create waterfall-like scenery; for early season conditions, fording can be difficult during snowmelt runoff.
At Curry Gap (about 4.4 miles from the start), you’re at a large meadow where multiple trails meet, making it a common turnaround point or staging area for longer loop options into Bald Eagle and beyond.
