Refuge d'Anterne Alfred Wills
Refuge d'Anterne Alfred Wills (also known as Refuge Alfred Willis) is a backcountry hut for alpine round trips in the Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval/Passy area of Haute-Savoie, at about 1,810 m. The refuge is staffed in the summer season and has solar power.
It sleeps 54. Dormitories are set up with duvets and pillows; sleeping bags are not allowed, and a “sac à viande” (drap de sac) is sold on site. Fees apply for the winter hut use: winter non-guarded opening runs from 1 October 2025 to 31 May 2026 with a 5 € participation per person, payable in a dedicated urn. During the staffed season the refuge accepts half-board, with dinner served at 19:00; you need to arrive before 17:30 to choose the menu. Hot shower access is limited to demi-pensionnaires (3 minutes) and costs 4 €. There is a source water basin on arrival and basic sanitary facilities (WC and washbasins), and the hut provides a hot shower option for paying guests.
In the reserve, bivouac is allowed from 19:00 to 07:00; fires are strictly prohibited in the reserve. The reserve bans dogs. Portable phone charging is not possible—bring an external battery if you need one. The refuge is equipped for basic recycling/downslope expectations: you’re responsible for taking your waste back down, and there’s no “salle hors sac.” If you plan to eat at the refuge while bivouacking, you must ask in advance. The terrace is prioritized for refuge guests; you may need to ask the caretakers if there’s room to cook outside on the terrace.
