Refuge de Pombie
Refuge de Pombie is a backcountry hut in the Pyrenees, operated by Club Alpin Français, set at 2,032 m near the Pic du Midi d'Ossau in the high Vallée d'Ossau area. It’s typically used as a classic starting point for the normal route to the Pic du Midi d'Ossau, and it also serves as an accommodation stop on the traverse of the Pyrenees (HRP) and on a variant of the GR10.
The refuge sleeps 45 in the main shelter and, when needed, has an additional 16 places in an annex for winter stays (15 places in the winter annex). It is rustic, with bedding in three dormitories; when the refuge is full, sleeping can be under a Marabout. Drinking water is available, but outside the guarded period you’re expected to manage waste and come prepared without gas (plan for what you’ll need for cooking).
Guarded service runs from June to the beginning of October, with additional guarding on weekends from April to mid-November. In the core zone of the Pyrénées National Park, follow the local park regulations while planning your access and stays.
