Refuge du Martin-Pêcheur
Refuge du Martin-Pêcheur is a 4-season backcountry hut in Parc des Appalaches, set for overnights by the trail network around Saint-Fabien-de-Panet. It’s a small hut with capacity for 5 people.
Use the Parc des Appalaches Accommodation booking system to reserve your dates; check availability in advance because bookings can be made months ahead. The refuge is part of the multi-day “Du Sugar Loaf au Petit lac des Vases” loop, with this hut listed as a possible overnight on multiple days.
Plan around the park’s refuge operating rules: arrival time is 15 h and you must leave by 10 h. The hut is equipped with a wood stove, bedding/2-inch mattress (and a sleeping platform such as a base de lit or mezzanine), plus tables and benches, and an outdoor dry toilet. Bring what you need for the night: sleeping bag and pillow, utensils and a bowl (gamelle), water, trash bags, headlamp/flashlight, paper products, candles or an oil lamp, matches/journal, and cooking/warming basics for your stay; water and the required “leave no trace” items are on you.
The park also allows dogs in refuges; you’re expected to clean up after them around the hut and sweep before departure. Refuges are rented exclusively with a key provided on arrival; in winter, they are not heated before your arrival, and a paid service may be requested for some closely located refuges (when offered by the park).
