Refuge du Soreiller
Refuge du Soreiller is a backcountry refuge in the Massif du Soreiller above the village of Les Étages, placed at 2719 m near the Aiguille de la Dibona. The hut was built in 1957 and renovated in 1999 and 2014, and it’s set up for guided mountain days built around climbing (including links between rocky routes via other huts).
Operationally, you need to book before going up. The refuge runs from Friday 5 June 2026 to Saturday 10 October 2026, and the evening meal is served at 19h as a shared meal. Dormitories have duvets; for your own bedding plan on bringing a “meat bag” as well as a frontal and batteries for the “Quies” balls. Meals and access are supported by a monthly helicopter refuel, and the refuge asks guests to take their waste back down into the valley. For night food and accommodation, it uses set half-board and night-only rates (tourist tax is added per person per night), with payments accepted by check or cash.
Food is available on-site during the day, with use of an external self-sufficiency room for those who bring their own food; there’s a sink and worktop there, but no stove or gas. For sanitation, there are dry toilets with a vermicomposting system and sinks; a hot shower is offered for a fee depending on conditions, while cold-water shower access is free. The refuge has photovoltaic panels used for operating the shelter; bring external batteries for autonomy.
