Refugio Toni Rohrer
Refugio Toni Rohrer is a rustic backcountry mountain hut in Patagonia on the approach to Monte San Lorenzo (Cerro San Lorenzo), used as an overnight base for people traveling on foot or horseback from the nearby Fundo San Lorenzo. The hut is named after Swiss mountaineer Toni Rohrer, who died during an attempt on the San Lorenzo summit area in 2000.
It has space for up to 20 people, but it’s a “no beds” style shelter—bring your own sleeping setup. Use is rustic and centered on self-reliance: visitors are expected to keep order, help preserve cleanliness, and respect the surrounding privately used grazing lands of the host family.
There’s no fixed public tariff; use is handled through the local caretakers. The hut is run by Lucy Gómez and her family, and access is typically described as an on-the-ground approach from Fundo San Lorenzo (about a few hours on foot).
