Sebois Riverside Trail
Sebois Riverside Trail is a one-way 7.2-mile (11.5 km) hike along the Seboeis River on the outskirts of Mount Chase. The tread stays close to the river as you travel through the Katahdin Woods & Waters National Monument area.
Route ends are Grand Pitch Trailhead and Philpott Bridge Trailhead. The northern access is Grand Pitch, with parking across the road from the trailhead sign.
About 1 mile in, the trail reaches Grand Pitch and its river-facing stop; this is also a common turnaround point if you don’t want to commit to the full point-to-point distance.
A warming hut sits roughly 2 miles from Grand Pitch (Snowshoe Lodge), and there’s a first-come-first-served campsite at Grand Pitch (with a small overnight site area about 1 mile from the portage).
Farther along, the route connects with a screened-in pavilion area by the river, providing a sheltered rest point for the long stretch between trailheads.
Sebois Riverside Trail is also used in winter by snowshoe, and dogs are permitted on-leash.
