Sentier du Lac Joe
Sentier du Lac Joe is a linear hiking route of about 12.6–15.1 km in the Réserve faunique Mastigouche, spanning Lanaudière and Mauricie. The route follows river and lake country within the Sentier national network in Québec.
Expect an easy long-distance day overall, with a few sections that feel more demanding than others: it alternates flatter walking with denser forested climbs rather than staying uniformly gentle.
Time on trail is typically around 4–6 hours depending on pace for the day’s length and how much you stop along the way.
The route is usable as part of multi-day, self-reliant hiking planning, including links to other Sentier national segments (for example via Sentier Chériore).
Camping/overnight options are provided along the overall Sentier national corridor, including rustic camping shelters/lean-tos and specific refuges such as refuge Grand Masti placed along the network near the Lac Joe area.
Access is managed through the Mastigouche reserve, and the route is used for long-distance hiking with no motor-vehicle access on the trail itself.
