Sentier Le Fjord
Sentier Le Fjord is a long-distance point-to-point hiking route in Quebec’s Parc national du Fjord-du-Saguenay, managed by Sépaq. It runs through the Baie-Sainte-Marguerite sector and continues toward Tadoussac, with the full traverse typically planned as a 2 to 3 day trek with overnight stays in park shelters/camps.
Route length for the full hike is about 43 km one way, and it’s rated difficult for the complete itinerary. Outbound planning often involves reserving transport: because it’s point-to-point, you’ll typically need a drop-off/pick-up arrangement for the entry/exit areas (including locations like Cap-de-la-Boule).
The trail begins from the Baie-Sainte-Marguerite side via access from the lower level of the fish hatchery area (Rue du Bateau-Passeur), and it connects you with the fjord corridor of Saguenay/estuary landscapes. Along the way, you stay close to the forest and pass sections with rocky steps while also getting overlooks toward the Saguenay Fjord.
From the start area you have a choice of approaches: you can climb toward Mount Adéla-Lessard (described as a 330 m steep climb) or continue toward Anse-à-la-Barque / the hill before pushing on toward Cap-de-la-Boule, where there is a shelter.
Shelter spacing supports multi-day pacing on the long version: the route is described as having a second shelter halfway along the longer traverse at Anse-Creuse, and a third shelter at Anse-de-la-Barge just before entering the Baie-Sainte-Marguerite sector (near La Halte du Béluga and the Discovery and Services Centre).
For shorter official options off the main traverse, the park’s itinerary set includes day loops and out-and-backs such as 3.6 km round trip to Anse-à-la-Barque and 6.6 km round trip to Mount Adéla-Lessard, plus longer access to Cap-de-la-Boule (11.7 km one way, with the same shuttle requirement concept).
The route is especially treated as a backcountry-style hiking plan: expect to cover multiple days, organize overnight accommodations at the park’s rustic camps/shelters/refuges, and build time for repeated stops along the rocky/step sections and fjord lookouts.
