Templeton Trail

Templeton Trail is a point-to-point hike in Sedona that connects the Bell Rock area to Oak Creek and finishes at the Baldwin Trail.

The route is commonly run as a one-way outing in the ~3.5 to 4-mile range and climbs enough to make it more than a casual stroll, with a steep, rocky descent coming out of the Cathedral Rock area.

After starting off the Bell Rock Pathway, the trail passes west of the Cathedral Rock corridor, then goes under Route 179 through a tunnel and continues on toward the Cathedral Rock base area.

The middle of the hike follows around Cathedral Rock before dropping via switchbacks and a sustained rocky section; once you reach the bottom, the trail settles into a more lush Oak Creek stretch.

The trail’s final leg tracks rocky ground to where it meets the Baldwin Trail, which allows easy extension into a multi-route loop (Templeton plus Baldwin).

The mapped trail corridor is also used by equestrians and mountain bikes, and it’s mapped here as a ground-surface path along a named route segment (Ref 156).
