Tent Poles Hut (Historic)
Tent Poles Hut (Historic) is a small corrugated-iron station hut in Ka Whata Tū o Rakihouia Clarence Conservation Park. It has a timber frame and an earth floor, and it sits tucked into a gully among willow trees in the Seymour Stream area. Historically, it was used as a last overnight stop for musterers and pack-men before crossing Blind Saddle, with an associated holding paddock for sheep.
For sleeping, the hut has basic wooden bunks (historically ten; current listings commonly cite 4 bunks). There are no mattresses provided. The hut is set up for off-grid self-sufficiency: bring your own sleeping gear plus water and cooking setup, since there is no running water on-site; a tiny creek nearby can dry out in summer. Heating was originally an open fire, but firewood is scarce—so expect a difficult time making a fire unless you are fully prepared with fuel.
