Tetsmine Lake Loop

Tetsmine Lake Loop is an about 10 km hiking loop in the north end of Frontenac Provincial Park, set in mature hardwood forest and returning back to the starting area. Expect a longer day for an “easy” loop—typical completion times land around 4–6 hours for most hikers.

The route is marked with blue trail blazes and follows a loop that includes the northern edge of Moulton Gorge. Terrain changes as you climb and descend rocky, glacially sculpted ground around the gorge corridor.

A big part of the character is cultural and historical. The loop passes remains of abandoned mica mines and an early homestead, with Tetsmine Lake acting as a mid-hike waypoint.

For timing and logistics, the loop is commonly accessed from the Kingsford Dam parking area in the park’s north. From there, you reach the trail system leading into the loop.

There’s an easy add-on option if you want more mileage: Hemlock Lake Loop can be linked to extend the day to roughly the mid-teens (around 15 km).

Conditions and trail fitness: despite being graded easy overall, some sections can be rugged and the trail visibility is intermediate, so stay on blazed route segments and follow the marked crossing areas.
