The Cirque
The Cirque, also known as the Cirque of the Uncrackables, is a traditional climbing sector on the backside of Stawamus Chief near Squamish, British Columbia. The granite setting combines a large slab with long, difficult crack lines in a forested cirque.
The sector has nine documented routes, ranging from 5.9 to 5.14b in the US YDS. Routes include the 35 m March Of The Kitchen Utensils at 5.9, the 33 m The Scimitar at 5.11b, and Cobra Crack, a 40 m 5.14b traditional climb. Other lines include Ivan Meets G.I. Joe, Bop 'til You Drop, and Boogie Till You Puke.
Cobra Crack is the area’s defining test piece: a thin, steep granite crack with an overhanging section and a first free ascent by Sonnie Trotter in June 2006, following the 1981 first ascent by Tami Knight and Peter Croft. The sector falls within the broader Squamish climbing area, where occasional crags may be affected by private-land closures.
