The Ledge
The Ledge is a compact sport-climbing crag on good rock in Squamish Valley. Its routes range from 17 to 29 metres, with most lines fully bolted and a smaller selection of gear-protected climbs that follow steep, crack-featured terrain.
The crag occupies a narrow ledge, with fixed lines assisting movement between routes. Allow room for other parties rather than bringing a large group, children, or dogs. Anchors use chains and steel carabiners for cleaning; a 60 m rope reaches the descents, although the margin is close on some routes, so tie a stopper knot.
Approach from Squamish Valley Road via Ashlu Forest Road. Continue 4 km, park at the pullout opposite the 4 km sign, and take the short trail up and left to the ledge. The road is steep and rough but does not require four-wheel drive.
The wall faces northwest and is generally shaded until about 3 pm. Spring seepage can affect the cliff, while autumn shade arrives before the wall receives sun. Aggravated Basalt is an 18 m, 5.10d sport route with nine bolts, established by Tanya Hall in 2023.
