The Longhouse - Bannock Buttress
The Longhouse - Bannock Buttress is part of Squamish’s Longhouse granite crag, with climbing on the north and west aspects. The area is predominantly single-pitch crack climbing, ranging from splitter cracks and steep walls to vertical and overhanging jamming.
Approach from the Shannon Creek Forest Service Road requires a high-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicle. From the pull-off, orange-marked trail reaches the first cliffs in about 10–15 minutes; Bannock Buttress is among the Longhouse sectors reached along this approach.
Plan on a full double rack through #4, with #5 and #6 cams useful and multiples of larger pieces needed for the true offwidths. A 60 m rope covers the listed climbs apart from The Bonghouse, where a 70 m rope was used for the first ascent; helmets are advisable because loose rock and overhead hazards remain possible.
The Longhouse was found in May 2012 and developed through that summer. Its development ethic generally excludes protection bolts, apart from two-bolt lowering anchors; respect existing projects, fixed lines, and equipment when climbing or developing routes.
