Upper Paradise Lake Cabin

Upper Paradise Lake Cabin is a remote log cabin in the Chugach National Forest, reached only by floatplane on Upper Paradise Lake near Seward. The cabin sleeps 6 with a maximum occupancy of 8, and it includes counter space, a table, benches, a wood stove, an outhouse, and a rowboat with oars; firewood is limited in the area.

Use of the cabin requires a valid reservation. Book through Recreation.gov up to 180 days in advance; the rate is $60 per night plus a non-refundable Recreation.gov reservation fee. Maximum consecutive stay is 14 nights.

Plan to be fully self-sufficient: bring your own water (there’s no running water nearby), bedding/sleeping pads, flashlights, cooking gear and utensils, clothing/food, and cut firewood. Water from lakes or streams needs to be treated or boiled. All garbage and food must be packed out.

The cabin supports fishing and hunting and is also used for day hikes. It’s extremely remote and, in fall through early spring, access may be limited when the lake freezes (floatplanes can’t land). Recreation is subject to cabin rules, including limits on how long you can occupy the cabin and a prohibition on camping or staying overnight within 300 feet of the cabin without a valid reservation.
