VCR Bowl

Open bowl with freeride character. Expect variable snow—from wind-buffed to faceted pockets—plus convex rollovers and short rock bands. Lines fan out from the bowl rim into a broad apron; pick features to match stability and visibility.

From the parking, skin to the bowl floor, then gain a wind-sheltered rib to the rim to avoid overhead hazard. Keep your uptrack out of runout gullies. Transitions are exposed; stage well back from cornices.

Common hazards: wind slab on leeward lips, cornice fall onto the apron, thin cover over rocks near the rim, and terrain-trap depressions mid-apron. Give groups above/below space and manage choke points one at a time.

Best when new snow has settled or during a firm overnight freeze for spring corn. Skip during active loading or poor visibility. Pros: clean fall-line, playful rollover features. Cons: wind effect, overhead exposure, and complex runout.
