Whitestone Scar
Whitestone Scar is a small Squamish-area granite crag with seven single-pitch climbs from 5.10a to 5.11a. The face supports both sport and traditional climbing, with four sport routes and three trad lines, and faces northwest to west for useful morning shade.
The crag is reached from the Sea to Sky Gondola summit lodge in roughly 15–20 minutes. Start on the Al’s Habrich trail about 200 m east of the lodge, then follow the approach to marker #10 at 600 m; after another 30 m, cross the wooden bridge and stream, turn left, and allow about eight minutes to reach the wall.
The route list includes Snorter (5.11a, 20 m, sport, eight bolts), Rock’n’crack (5.11a, 20 m, trad, three bolts with cams to 4 inches), Crack Cocaine (5.11a, 20 m, trad, protection to 4 inches), Cultural Cruise (5.10a, 15 m, sport, six bolts), Cultural Modification (5.10a, 15 m, sport, single-rope protection to 3 inches), Dust (5.11a, 20 m, trad, five bolts plus cams to 1 inch for the finish), and Fingering the dike (5.11a, 18 m, sport, seven bolts).
The lines offer varied granite features: Snorter begins at an overhang, Rock’n’crack follows a prominent crack above a bolted wall, Crack Cocaine climbs an overhanging corner into a splitter, Cultural Cruise uses a shallow arête groove, Dust finishes via Cultural Modification, and Fingering the dike tracks a mid-height dike. A project wall occupies the left side of the crag.
