Young Lake (North) Cabin

Young Lake (North) Cabin is a primitive wilderness hut in Tongass National Forest, on the northern tip of Admiralty Island. The cabin is a pre-cut cedar log cabin (pan-abode style) with wooden bunkbeds that sleep up to six people, and it has an oil stove for heat plus an outside toilet. There’s no running water or electricity, so you’ll need to bring your own water, food, and basic camping gear.

Access is by float plane only (about a 20-minute flight from Juneau), and the cabin sits in a designated wilderness area where helicopter access is illegal. The lake is normally ice-free from mid-May through November, but the cabin can be inaccessible in fall, winter, and early spring when the lake freezes. Use requires a reservation, and the site is in a remote, bear- and water-focused safety context; plan on packing out all garbage and food and bringing extra supplies for 2–5 days if weather changes extend your trip.
