Old Hope Bouldering

Loading map…

Old Hope Bouldering occupies roughly 1 km of boulders along the south side of Highway 1, about 1 km beyond the Hunter Creek exit toward Hope. It was the Fraser Valley’s first developed bouldering area, with development beginning in 1998.

The area contains more than 300 problems, ranging from V2–V3 through V10–V11 in the documented spread. Notable hard lines include Leviathan V9, Blade of Lightning V10, and Nautilus V10. Subareas include Big Bang Boulders, Big Sky Boulder, The Great Roof, Ground Zero Boulders, The Iron Boulder, The Leviathan Boulder, and The Morgul Boulder (Lightning Boulder).

A trail follows the treeline for the length of the area, with branching paths to the individual boulder groups. Hunter Creek rest stop provides an alternative parking point followed by an approximately 20-minute walk; driving the pipeline clearing requires a 4x4 vehicle. Do not park on the highway shoulder or grass, where parking is illegal.
