Ammonoosuc Ravine
Ammonoosuc Ravine is the broad basin on the west side of Mount Washington, south of the Cog Railway ridge. Its upper terrain reaches toward the Lakes of the Clouds area below Mount Monroe. The railway ridge separates it from the smaller Burt Ravine to the north.

Cog Railway
Ski tourThe ski route uses the Cog's trackside right-of-way above Marshfield Base Station. The operator advertises a groomed trackside service trail in winter and requires a land-use fee for access on its property. Confirm the operator's current access terms before using the route.

Backcountry descentMonroe Brook
Backcountry descentMonroe Brook descends from the Lakes of the Clouds area toward the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail. The upper gully is narrower and steeper, then widens and eases lower down. Falls interrupt the lower drainage; the documented exit stays skier's left of them to reconnect with the Ammonoosuc trail. This is an avalanche path, not simply a wooded return trail.
Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail
Ski tourThe Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail follows the river to Gem Pool, then changes from easier forest grades to a steep, rough ascent toward Lakes of the Clouds. It crosses Gem Pool's outlet and climbs stone steps and ledges above the pool, including a ladder at one ledge. The upper ledges can be slippery; this section is not a continuous low-angle skintrack.
