2024-06-10 Babino Polje - Plav Giornata interessante solo nei pressi dell’Hridsko jezero (lago Hridsko) e poco oltre, molta strada sterrata. Poco sotto la GH Triangle Woodhouse inizia un sentiero che sale nella foresta e si ricollega al POB evitando circa 2 km di strada asfaltata. Si prosegue quindi su strada sterrata fino alle capanne di Bajrovica katun da cui inizia il sentiero che sale ripido nella foresta fino al lago Hridsko. Molto bella la zona intorno al Hridsko jezero dominato dalla piccola montagna rocciosa Hridski krš (2358 m). Sopra il lago sono presenti 2 rifugi liberi da cui si gode un bel panorama. Il primo rifugio è un vecchio edificio in pietra in discrete condizioni, a 20 m è presente una fonte d'acqua (un tubo versa l'acqua in una vecchia vasca da bagno). Dopo 1,5 km si arriva al rifugio Hridski krš, è una bella struttura nuova e in legno che può alloggiare circa 6 persone, nei pressi non è presente alcuna sorgente. Circa 20 m prima e a sinistra del rifugio Hridski krš inizia il sentiero che, dopo un traverso di circa 800 m, entra nella foresta scendendo lungamente e senza panorama. Il sentiero termina al Treskavicka katun, da quì fino a Plav è tutta strada sterrata tranne un piccolo tratto di sentiero presso una piccola capanna fatiscente ed il fiume Treskavicka. È una parte abbastanza noiosa perché il panorama collinare non è particolarmente interessante. Plav è una piccola città sulle sponde del lago Plavsko, come in altri luoghi dei Balcani stride il contrasto fra povertà - ricchezza, passato - modernità. Sono presenti diversi supermarket ben forniti e piccoli umili negozi di alimentari. Alloggiamo presso la discreta GH Erdan

Peaks of the Balkan - Theth, Albania - Valbone, Albania
This itinerary involves a hike from Thethi (716 m) over the Valbona Pass (1 759 m) to Valbona (995 m). This hike follows the route of an ancient mule track linking the tribal regions of Shala and Nikaj. The trail is marked with white/red/white lines. The hike starts at Thethi center (WP 1) and follows NW along a gravel road with Thethi River in our left. As an orientation point could be taken the main bridge of Thethi and Prek Harusha guesthouse. After few hundred meters we cross a stream through a pedestrian bridge and immediately take the path on our right at the junction. The trail takes right at WP 2 and follows NE. Near of this point there are signs for Gusinje, Montenegro and Valbona, Albania. The hike follows gently up along the gravel road until we see the first house of Gjelaj village and the mule track in our left at WP 3. Now the ascending becomes steeper. After approx. 200 meters the mule track enters the forest and follows it for 1 Km until we reach a picturesque meadow (WP 4), which is an inviting place to rest awhile. Then our hike follows again steeply up hill NE, enters the forest after approx. 500 meters and after walking in the forest for about 1 km, we reach a water source at WP 5. Few meters after we saw a new wooden bar which was closed (in Nov 2011), but according to the locals, it will be open during the summer time for hikers. We follow the path SE (the only one in the area) in the forest for approx. 700 meters and then we exit the forest and follow E at Valbona pass (WP 6). This point offers a view onto two valleys (Valbona to the E, Thethi to the W). The decent on the Valbona side begins NW, before taking the zigzag path (NE) at WP 7. In the end of the zigzags we cross a (dried-up) stream (WP 8). Then we take SW and the trail enters an open wooden land through clear trail. After approx. 600 meters we reach a stream with drinkable water (WP 9), which is a good place to rest for awhile, before taking the final decent to Rragam village (WP 10). At this point, we take the left path at the junction. In Rragam, our hike is line by fences and Valbona valley is easily recognizable below to our left. After few hundred meters walking in the village, we take right at the junction (WP 11) and this route leads us down at gravel road lined by pines. This is the main road which connects Valbona with Rragam. We take this route for about 3 Km and we finish our hike at Fusha e Gjes Hotel (WP 12). Valbona center is located 3.5 Km NE by taking the same route. Peaks of the balkans: 2-Valbona to Cerem (with Zla Kolata summit)
This is not the original track of the Peaks of the Balkans. The original one follows roads to Cerem so it’s not nice to walk. From my point of view, this trail must be the most beautiful of the Peaks of the Balkans. Be careful: I start and finish in the hostels where I stay. In Valbona center there’s a little market with some drinks, chips and biscuits. Some of the old trails starting in Valbona are getting closed because they are building new hotels, houses, fences, paths… so do not follow my first steps in Valbona center. Just cross the bridge and torn right following a new path on the rocks of the river. You can decide not to do the summit. In fact, if the weather is wet, I would not recommend to do it because the most part going up is on rocks, and they can be very slippery if they are wet. But in a sunny day, the summit is worth it!!! The easiest trail going up from the moutain pass is starting going down, a little bit on the left. You will find the trail so fast (do not go directly going up as me because the pass is more dangerous).

You start crossing a nice forest going up. Fastly you’ll find a place where to eat and drink. During the trail you will cross from Albania to Montenegro and to Albania again different times. You will enjoy a black pine forest most of the day.

Preciosa ruta, una de las más bonitas que he hecho. He salido directamente del hotel y el camino está justo al lado. Empieza en el lugar donde está una cascada. A partir de ahí se camina un par de horas por pista. En dos kilómetros está el ojo azul, una laguna de un intenso azul que es interesante de ver. Sigo caminando, paso un lago seco y empieza la subida, es bastante empinada, pero no es demasiado prolongada por lo que bien, además es bajo hayas así que había sombra. Una vez llegado arriba, se llega a un valle cerrado y se pasa hacia el otro lado por pastos. Aquí empieza la segunda cuesta y hay que estar atento porque hay que girar a la derecha hacía la mitad de la subida. Una vez llegado al collado se va bajando hacía el lago, aunque se puede bordear y de allí subir al último collado del día. Aquí se sigue recto, hay marcas para seguir subiendo a la derecha, pero no hay que hacerlo. Seguir el paso hasta el siguiente valle. Aquí reponer fuerzas y prepararse para la bajada. Más de 1000 metros de desnivel. La bajada está bien marcada en principio, sobretodo la parte más pronunciada y bonita. Después ya empiezan a aparecer las piedras y el desnivel es menor. Se hace largo llegar hasta Theth. Pero se llega. Los desniveles como siempre los cuenta mal. Hay unos 1000m de desnivel positivo
