SIlvretta Ski Tour: Jamtal Hut to Wiesbadener Hut

Day 4: Jamtal Hut to Wiesbadener Hut This is another classic Alpine touring day through the Ochsenscharte at 2913m at with an optional ascent of the Dreilanderspitze, 3197m, before descending to the Wiesbadener Hut. From the hut skin initially in a similar direction to yesterday but at around 2500m head more to the W up the glacier, then SW. The easiest line goes through the Ochsenscharte at 2913m before descending directly to the W and NW. More challenging is to take a slightly higher line up the glacier to the Ober Oschenscharte then steeply up to the Dreilanderspitze summit with a final bootpack. From the summit it is also a direct ski down to the hut, initially down your ascent route, then continuing NW to join the tracks from the other col. Written by Jon Morgan

Silvretta Ski Tour: Hintere Jamspitze from the Jamtal Hut

Day 3: A day tour from the Jamtal Hut This hut is too amazing to spend only one night in. Fortunately there are numerous day tours possible from the hut. The one described here is the Hintere Jamspitze. From the hut ski SW onto the N facing Jamtal Glacier. Follow this steadily upwards in an arc, heading SE, S then SW to reach the Jamjoch Col at 3078m. From here a short further skin leads to a bootpack up to the summit cross at 3156m. Descend as for the skin up on often lovely cold powder. Written by Jon Morgan

Silvretta Ski Tour: Heidelberg Hut to Jamtal Hut via Curuna Lada Summit

Day 2: A beautiful and logical mountain journey This a lovely day skinning through a col with optional summit, descending to the amazing Jamtal Hut. Skin steadily S from the Heidelberg Hut through the Kronenjoch Col at 2980m with optional Breite Krone summit at 3079m, depending on party fitness and weather. If you take in the summit there is a small additional skin to the col. The descent to the Jamtal Hut is pretty steady down the valley to the NW then W. Written by Jon Morgan

Silvretta Ski Tour: Piz Val Grondabahn to Heidelberger Hut

Day 1: A warm up day with use of the lifts and positioning day to the Heidelberger Hut. Being a tour which is commonly used as an introduction to ski touring or those with limited experience it is handy to have an easier day to begin with. The modern lift system at Ischgl is used, including the brand new lift to Piz Val Grondabahn. This allows the option of a mainly downhill day to the hut. There are numerous off piste runs that can be done off the lifts earlier in the day. For those wanting more skinning some other cols and a summit can be added. From the brand new Piz Val Grondabahn lift follow the piste to the Col Val Gronda at 2752m. From here leave the piste and descend SW to a flat area then a short gentle skin to an unnamed col the the W, then descend W, then SW to the Heidelberger Hut at 2304m. Extra objectives include descent S around Piz Davo Sasse then ascent to Pass del Gips at 2593m and from there either descent direct to the hut or ascent of El Calscuogns, 2792m.
