Alta Via di Ridanna

Alta Via di Ridanna (Ridnauner Höhenweg) is a long-distance hike on the high paths above Val Ridanna, linked to the Vipiteno/Racines area and run largely in the 1900–2300 m band. It’s mapped as a demanding-mountain-hiking route (SAC scale: demanding mountain hiking) and is treated as difficult for the combination of length and sustained altitude work. The route reaches a maximum altitude around 2328 m.

Typical day structure starts with the Monte Cavallo area above Vipiteno (via the upper station of Monte Cavallo). From there you follow trail no. 23 (Alta Via di Ridanna), first trending along the alpine-road/path line above the Kuhalm sector toward Ochsenalm, with continued travel under the Telves peaks.

A key high section passes the Seeberalm basin and the Seeber See area, then continues toward Prischeralm (traditional start point used on the Ridnauner Höhenweg line). This is the part of the hike where the route stays on high, steep grassy slopes and ridgeline terrain under the Cime Bianche di Telves.

If you’re planning hut stops, the line includes traditional alpine huts along the way; Ochsenalm and the Telves huts are specifically used as waypoints. The Telves area also contains route variants with protected sections on steeper terrain (fixed rope/handrail points are described on this area’s terrain).

For the descent/back half, the route switches to the descent line via trail no. 27 from Prischeralm down toward Masseria in Val Ridanna, with the end connected back to Vipiteno via public transport (bus line 312 is named as the return option).
