Caterpillar Connector
Route Details
Caterpillar Connector is a blue-rated singletrack that runs through the Alice Lake & Highlands trail network near Diamond Head. It’s a short, traversing-style link that moves riders off the logging-road system toward the Mad Hatter area, with an option to turn off toward Hot Tuna; the line is ridden both directions, though it’s more fun SE to NW.
Expect a mix of flow with built features: the trail is used as an easy-to-intermediate connector and can include small structures such as launches and log-ride style sections, so clean bike setup and a smooth line through features matter more than pure speed.
Plan for committed features when conditions are poor. The trail can hold mud (and has riders noting mud and wet conditions), so if the ground is soft, scout any known feature points first and keep traction strategy conservative on slick surfaces.
