Chainsaw Ridge
Chainsaw Ridge is an extreme downhill ski line on Blackcomb Mountain in the Whistler Blackcomb Resort area of Whistler, British Columbia. It sits in the high alpine above the Saudan Couloir area and is intended for expert skiers and snowboarders only.
The route is un-groomed and follows a narrow, wind-exposed ridgeline with steep pitches, large snow cornices, and pronounced drop-offs. Terrain on and around the line can include exposed rock and unstable snow, so conditions can be consequential even when the descent is open.
Chainsaw Ridge is rated Proline / Double Black Diamond. The run is about 854 meters long with a continuous vertical drop of roughly 285 meters, making it a short but sustained alpine descent rather than a long cruising run.
Access is via the 7th Heaven Express Chairlift on Blackcomb Mountain. From the top, ski left to traverse the ridge from Proposal Point. Skiing with a partner is recommended, and marked cornice boundaries should not be crossed.
