Cooloola Great Walk

Cooloola Great Walk is a 102 km, multi-day coastal walking track in Queensland’s Great Sandy National Park, commonly completed in about 4–5 days.

Route planning is built around two car-access ends: start from Noosa North Shore (via Tewantin) or from Carlo Sandblow in Rainbow Beach, then finish at the opposite end.

The walk is set up as a multi-night, hiker-camping route with designated walkers’ camps; bookings and camping permits are required for the walkers’ camps and need to be arranged in advance.

Day-by-day pacing is typically organized into five walking days, with approximate stages: 17.3 km to Brahminy Walkers’ Camp, 20.3 km to Dutgee Walkers’ Camp, 14.8 km to Litoria Walkers’ Camp, 20.5 km to Kauri Walkers’ Camp, and 29.1 km to the Carlo Sandblow car park.

Terrain changes are a core part of the route character, with the track traversing beaches and sand dunes as well as rainforest and other coastal vegetation types as it links Noosa North Shore with Rainbow Beach.

This hike can be done in either direction, but northbound starting at Noosa and hiking toward Rainbow Beach is a common way to run the itinerary; because it’s point-to-point, you need return transport booked ahead of time.
